Security situations in 2016 all over Africa and the Middle East region has been observed with growing threats and vulnerability of soldiers, who put their lives in danger either on the border or inside the country, while dealing with some rapid action at a terror attack or some search operation within urban areas.
They always need reliable, secure yet mechanically operable vehicles with locally available parts and maintenance network. Such vehicles are always the best option in compact size LAMVs (light armoured multipurpose vehicles), especially for the Africa and Middle Eastern region.
Streit Group, the world’s largest armoured vehicles manufacturing company, relaunched its successful product in this region, with all-new design, advanced protection and additional options that cater to the needs of recent threats.
The all-new Cougar 2 – LAMV has been given a suspension and engine upgrade, with seating capacity of 10 personnel, including driver and commander. It is lighter in weight, which affects mobility. It has ground clearance of 235mm to avoid obstacles while in operation, with a well modified angle of approach and departure.
This vehicle will be available in both left- and right-hand drive terrain. The Cougar will be best fit for police operations, border control, airport security or anti-terrorism operations. It will be available not only as an APC (armoured personnel carrier), but also useful as an armoured ambulance.
With the successful relaunch of the Cougar – LAMV, Streit Group is already in the process of manufacturing over 100 units to be delivered by mid-2017 in the Middle East.
