Today the development of a new Swedish-Brazilian research and innovation center in São Bernardo do Campo, Brazil, begins. Saab is one of the initiators and the co-operation starts with a two-day workshop on December 1 and 2.
The main focus areas are aerospace, defence and urban innovation, for example civil security. The centre will be located in São Bernardo do Campo, SP, in close co-operation with local industry and universities including UFABC (Universidade Federal do ABC) and FEI (Centro Universitário da FEI).
“The research and innovation centre will form a bridgehead between Brazil and Sweden, a hub to identify, develop and support high-tech bilateral co-operation projects and technology for a sustainable society”, says Saab’s President and CEO Håkan Buskhe.
The centre will create partnerships and networking opportunities to Brazilian and Swedish governmental, academic and industry entities with an interest to extend the co-operation between the countries. The centre and its activities will support the ambitions in the bilateral Government agreement signed in 2009 to extend innovative high technological industrial co-operation between Brazil and Sweden.
“São Bernardo do Campo and Brazil will gain a lot with this centre. This Saab initiative represents a great achievement for the region”, says Luíz Marinho, Mayor of São Bernardo do Campo.
