Saab Grintek Defence wins at Sixth Annual SA Premier Business Awards

Centurion, 20 March 2019 – Local leading defence and security company, Saab Grintek Defence, received the coveted Exporter andEnterprise Development Awards at the sixth annual South African Premier Business Awards.

The SA Premier Business Awards acknowledges business excellence in South Africa and is organised by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), in partnership with Proudly South Africa and Brand South Africa.

Accepting the award was Saab Grintek Defence’s President, Trevor Raman, and Deputy President, Evelyn Motsatsing, who emphasised that it was an honour to once again win the acclaimed Exporter Award (having won it in 2013/2014 and 2016/2017), and to receive the Enterprise Development Award as recognition for the organisation’s continued focus on skills development initiatives and transformation strategies.

The Exporter Award recognises all export industry sectors, from services to manufacturing, and encourages other South African companies to participate in international business development and markets. It also highlights South African enterprises that invest in both human and technical resources in various projects or activities; produce quality products and services; and remain locally and internationally competitive.

The Enterprise Development Award celebrates companies that procure from small, medium and micro enterprise, in particular black- and women-owned enterprises. The organisation’s investment in enterprise development initiatives is unique to the defence industry, investing time, skills and resources to enhance the vision of transformation through highly strategic enterprise and supplier development programmes, industry-relevant socio-economic initiatives in the Tshwane area, and the extensive and sustained training and skills development of employees.

“Without the commitment and hard work of all of our employees who consistently ensure the highest standards are delivered, we wouldn’t be able to compete on the global scale that we do, and look forward to continuing our contributions to the South African defence industry”.
