A seminar on opportunities for growth in the defence industries of the five BRICS countries – Brazil, Russia, India, the People’s Republic of China and South Africa – coincided with the summit.

“The next step is for Denel to have a strong presence at LAAD to showcase the quality and range of our products, systems and technology to a wider range of defence decision-makers in Latin America,” says Riaz Saloojee, Group CEO of the state-owned South African manufacturer.

“We have strong relationships with the defence industries and defence forces of many countries in South and Latin America, and we will use LAAD to grow the knowledge about the products and services we can offer the region,” says Saloojee.

LAAD Defence and Security 2013 is the largest exhibition of its kind in Latin America, and will attract official delegations from more than 60 countries. Denel will be one of the more than 720 exhibitors to maintain a presence at the Riocentro, in Rio de Janeiro.

“Denel’s growing reputation in the global defence industry positions itself as South Africa’s obvious partner-of-choice for companies in Latin America which are extending their business into Africa,” says Saloojee.

With a proven record for quality products and services across the spectrum of defence manufacturing – from landward, to aerospace, to missile technology, to maintenance services – Denel offers advanced facilities, a world-class skills pool and an unflinching commitment to excellence, innovation, research and development.
