Ambassador Bheki WJ Langa has been appointed head of the domestic branch of the State Security Agency (SSA).
His appointment became effective on August 1 and was made by President Jacob Zuma in terms of the South African Constitution and relevant legislation.
Langa holds a Master of Science and PhD in Economics with a post graduate diploma in Quantitative Development Economics. He also holds an MA in Social and Development Studies as well as additional qualifications at a number of international tertiary institutions SAnews reports.
He also completed comprehensive intelligence training in Russia.
“His career spans 39 years and includes deployments during the struggle for liberation. He is a seasoned public servant who served in various government portfolios from 1994 to 2005.
“Ambassador Langa brings with him immense understanding and knowledge of the intelligence environment and his astute managerial experience will help move the organisation forward,” the Ministry said in its welcome to the new head of domestic security.
