Libya will receive six boats donated by France later this year to enhance maritime security and combat illegal migration in the North African country.
This is according to the French Ministry of Defence as reported by France’s Le Monde newspaper and comes after a meeting between French armed forces minister Florence Parly and Libyan Prime Minister Fayez Al-Sarraj.
The 12 metre long semi-rigid boats are being acquired from France’s Sillinger and will be delivered in the second quarter of 2019.
They will be used mainly to combat illegal migration from Libya.
