Rheinmetall Denel Munition (RDM) has collaborated with the Clicks Group Outreach Programme in order to facilitate and rollout the COVID-19 vaccination for RDM’s employees and all contractors on site.
The programme first kicked off at RDM’s Somerset West site at the beginning of the week and will be extended for all four RDM sites across South Africa, the company said. The programme covers all three age groups that are currently eligible for the vaccines, from 35 years to 60 and above.
RDM assisted their employees with the national registration process onsite. “The vaccination process is well co-ordinated and efficient. I was in and out in under 25 minutes,” said Anthea Hartogh, an operator at Rheinmetall Denel Munition.
Thus far the vaccine rollout programme has been strongly supported by the company’s employees and the company urges everyone to get vaccinated. “The only way for us to ensure a COVID-19 free society is to encourage as many people as possible to get vaccinated. We are very grateful to our company and the Clicks Group for making these services available to us at our place of work,” said Lyndon Metcalf, Rheinmetall Denel Munition’s COVID-19 Compliance Officer.
Each employee who has received their first vaccine have also been informed as to when they will have to come back to receive the second jab.
South Africa is expecting a delivery of about 10 million Johnson & Johnson vaccine doses and about 16 million Pfizer doses this quarter. Over 2.8 million adults have been fully vaccinated across South Africa to date.
