The National Assembly yesterday passed a motion “without notice” to remember former Denel CE Victor Moche who died during cancer treatment in China earlier this month.

African National Chief Whip Mathole Motshekga yesterday introduced a motion noting Moche`s death on August 1 “with profound sadness.” He was 61.

Moche was chairman of the Gauteng Economic Development Agency at the time of his death and had served as Denel CE in 2003 and 2004.

Prior to that he had been head of regulatory and government relations at Telkom. He returned from exile in 1991 after spending more than 20 years in exile where he worked for the ANC in several countries including Canada and Algeria.

Moche held a Master’s degree in journalism from Germany‘s Leipzig University in 1979 in addition to other qualifications

The motion adds that “his untimely death has robbed South Africa of a dedicated and committed patriot” who “discharged his responsibilities with dedication, discipline, diligence and humility.”
