Unknown gunmen kidnapped two Chinese workers and killed a policeman in the southern Nigerian state Edo, a police spokesman said.

The abductions happened last Wednesday on the outskirts of Benin City, the state capital, Edo state police commissioner Dan Malam Mohammed told Reuters, adding the workers were employed by a company called Time Multinational.

“The abductors have not made any contact but we are tracking them,” Mohammed said. “No arrest has been made yet.”

No further details were available. Kidnappings are common in southern Nigeria.
