SANDF assists police confiscate drugs along the garden route

SA National Defence Force (SANDF) members, under command of Joint Tactical Headquarters Western Cape, have confiscated nearly 100 kg of drugs at a roadblock along the Garden Route.

The SANDF are deployed in support of the South African Police Services for Operation Notlela. They act as a force multiplier during foot patrols and Vehicle Control Points (VCPs), the SANDF said on 27 April.

Whilst at a roadblock at Tsitsikama Toll Plaza, Alpha Company Platoon 1 under the command of Sergeant N.R. Thomas and Section Commander, Corporal M.J. Moletsane, found bags of Cannabis being transported to suppliers. Approximately 97kg of the drugs was hidden in potato bags.

According to Alpha Company Commander, Captain K.A. Mothobi, the perpetrators were arrested by Plettenberg Bay SAPS. “Criminals who think they will get away with their activity by making use of essentials deliveries, are warned that they will not! Rather stay at home and only go out for essentials”, he said.
