REPLY:
1Yes to (a) Presidential Pardons and yes to (b) records that are expunged. The Criminal Record Centre of the SA Police Service keeps a record of Presidential Pardons as well as a record of expungements. Presidential pardons and expungements according to Article 271 are received from the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development and the Legal Services of the SAPS.

The SAPS CRC acts on request only from the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development. On an Ad hoc basis the SAPS CRC reacts to requests from the SAPS Legal Services.
