Mpumalanga to hold disaster summit

Health and disaster management practitioners are meeting in Ermelo, Mpumalanga, next week Wednesday to tackle hospital safety and disasters management at health facilities.
Representatives of the National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC) and the provincial departments of Local Government and Health are to engage on safety and disaster management as part of the province`s support for the United Nations (UN) Strategy for Disaster Risk Reduction.
This risk reduction campaign aims to
·         protect the lives of patients and health workers by ensuring the resilience of health facilities
·         ensure that health facilities and services are able to function in the aftermath of emergencies and disasters
·         improve the risk reduction capacity of health workers and institutions, including emergency management.
