Egypt bus crash kills 8 tourists

Eight tourists were killed and 22 injured in a bus crash on a road along Egypt’s Gulf of Suez coast, the state news agency MENA said on Saturday.

Health Ministry undersecretary Mohamed Sarhan was quoted by MENA as saying three of the dead in Friday’s crash were Russian nationals and efforts continued to identify the five others.

Health Minister Hatem el-Gabali arranged for the injured including the bus driver and a tour guide to be transferred by medical helicopter from Hurghada General Hospital to the Nasser Institute Hospital in Cairo, Reuters reports.

Reckless driving, lax traffic rules and poor road conditions cause many road crashes in Egypt.
