South African National Parks (SANParks) has announced that two of the Field Rangers who were arrested on 15 January in Crocodile Bridge on suspicion of involvement in rhino poaching appeared in the Skukuza Magistrate Court on 17 January and were granted bail.

Bail was fixed at R10 000 each with strict conditions; which include not travelling without informing the investigating office, barring them from having contact either physically or by electronic means with rangers as well as being under 24 hours house arrest, SANParks said.

The two suspects who were granted bail are Mr Lucky Mkansi (30 years old) and Mr Nzima Joe Sihlangu (32 years old); SANParks internal disciplinary procedures against them are also underway.

The third Field Ranger arrested, is due to appear at the Bushbuckridge Magistrate Court on 18 January.
