The company signed contracts with 16 Asian airlines, including China’s Air China and Shenzhen Airlines, India’s GoAir and Singapore’s BOC Aviation.

At the Singapore Airshow, Thales announces a string of successes for its avionics business in 2015. The group will equip a staggering total of over 700 Airbus single-aisle aircraft in Asia.

Thales cements its position as the most successful aerospace systems supplier in Asia, with contracts signed with 16 airlines, including China’s Air China and Shenzhen Airlines, India’s GoAir and Singapore’s BOC Aviation.

Singapore is Thales’ primary regional hub for avionics, and handles both production of key systems as well as repair and overhaul.

Locally, the group manufactures flight control computer displays and electrical systems for Airbus A320s and A350s, and for Boeing B787s.

Key contracts signed in 2015 include, in addition to a number of undisclosed airlines, Air China and Shenzhen Airlines choosing Thales TopFlightFlight Management System (FMS) on a total of 91 Airbus single-aisle aircraft. TopFlight FMS was also chosen by Mumbai-based GoAir, one of the fastest growing low-cost carriers in India, for its brand new fleet of 72 Airbus A320NEOs.

Singapore-based BOC Aviation, one of Asia’s largest and most successful aircraft leasing groups with aircraft across more than 60 airlines, also chose the Thales FMS for their baseline avionics configuration.

Most of the contracts signed across 2015 also include the Thales Low Range Radio Altimeter (LRRA) and the Thales/ACSS T3CAS surveillance platform, the leader avionics surveillance.

Singapore boasts one of the three global repair hubs for avionics and In-Flight Entertainment systems. It is responsible for a third of Thales’ Avionics repair and overhaul activities worldwide covering the entire Australasian territory.

About the Thales TopFlight FMS

TopFlight FMS is the new generation of flight management system (FMS) offering unique functionalities such as FLS (Flight Landing System) and “See what you fly” capabilities. With reliable and mature performance and functions, it can support even the most complex navigation data, due to higher navigation database capacity and faster dual processing.

It also supports Required Navigation Performace (RNP) 0.1 operations and performance-based navigations (PBN). TopFlight FMS remains the most successful flight management system in the world, with over 60% market share. It provides pilots with highly reliable navigational information, relayed in a simple manner, especially suited to heavy air traffic conditions. Thales TopFlight FMS will be delivered to customers across Asia over the next eight to 10 years.

T3CAS

The most advanced avionics terrain collision avoidance system In the market, the the ACSS T3CAS is now the standard surveillance on the Airbus A320 family avionics suite.

LRRA

The Thales Low Range Radio Altimeter (LRRA) is a proven radio-transceiver with a measured reliability higher than 50 000 flight hour mean time between failures.
