Simon’s town medal parade


SA Navy Flag Officer Fleet (FOF), Rear Admiral B K Mhlana awarded 10 year Good Service medals and “Tshumelo Ikatelaho” Good Service medals to a 125 recipients in Simon’s Town during a naval medal parade this week.

The “Tshumelo Ikatelaho” award came into effect on April 27, 2003 and is awarded to all ranks who participated in military campaigns or operations. These operations include deployments as part of UN peacekeeping missions in Africa and anti-piracy patrols conducted under the aegis of Operation Copper off the Mozambican coast.

The next medal parade in Simon’s Town will be held on November 16, when medals for 30 and 40 years Good Service will be awarded by the Chief of the SA National Defence Force, General Solly Shoke.
