The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) is this week screening “hundreds” of potential recruits at venues in Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) and the Eastern Cape.

The military is on track to next year recruit about 10 000 youths into its Military Skills Development System (MSDS).

Selection processes for invited candidates are currently being conducted at 121 South African Infantry Battalion (SAI Bn), at Nelspruit Military Base in Mpumalanga, Mtubatuba in northern KZN and at 14 SAI Bn at Umthatha in the Eastern Cape.

Screening started yesterday and will last until Saturday.

“Applicants, who received letters inviting them to attend the selection processes, are requested to ensure that they report on the dates as indicated for their relevant … Service e.g. SA Army, SA Air Force, SA Navy and the SA Military Health Service.”

Candidates are also reminded to bring along their letter of invitation as well as two certified copies of their identity document and certified copy of their Grade 12 certificate (those currently in Grade 12 should bring a certified copy of their Grade 11 results).

“Hundreds of deserving graduates, school leavers and learners currently in Grade 12, who answered the call to take advantage of opportunities that exist in the SANDF in terms of its MSDS, are presently running the last mile in their quest to serve in the SANDF ,” the SANDF says in a statement.
