SA Air Force Pilatus PC12

The South African Air Force has issued one or more requests for quotations (RFQ) for product support services for its sole Pilatus PC12 light transport.

It is not clear to whom the RFQ was issued as Armscor, the state procurement agency stopped publishing that data late last year, citing various reasons including national security and commercial confidentiality. The RFQ was issued April 24 with a closing date of May 28.

Before its content was almost completely deleted from the Internet, the Armscor “contract awarded” portal showed that Execujet Maintenance (Pty) Ltd had in May 2007 won a R9.5 million contract to provide product support services for the PC12.

The SAAF acquired the single turboprop aircraft in July 1997. It is currently assigned to 41 Squadron at AFB Waterkloof. The PC-12 is primary used as a VIP and IP passenger aircraft as well as an air ambulance. The SAAF example is fitted with a six-seat VIP interior.
