A member of the SA Military Health Service (SAMHS) was arrested for allegedly sexually harassing a patient at the 68 Air School sickbay in Centurion at the weekend.

A statement issued by Colonel Ronald Maseko of the SA National Defence Force (SANDF) Corporate Communications Directorate said the “suspect”, whose rank and mustering is not given, was moved from the Centurion SA Air Force (SAAF) unit to the SAMHS area military health unit in Gezina, Pretoria, “to allow investigations to proceed without interference or his influence”.

The suspect apparently attempted to bribe the investigating officer in an effort to avoid the incident going to court.
“Co-operation between the military police and the SA Police Service saw him arrested and detained at Lyttelton Police Station,” Maseko said adding he was due to appear in court on Monday.
“The SANDF will co-operate with law enforcement to ensure the law takes it course,” Maseko said adding the force “condemned any form or type of ill-discipline in its ranks, regardless of rank”.
