Tatra Trucks has signed an agreement with Egypt to supply 130 truck chassis and is in discussions to supply another 220.
This is according to Petr Rusek, chairman of the board of Tatra Trucks, who said that the Czech company had signed contracts worth CZK800 million ($33 million) with both Egypt and Jordan to supply specialised chassis.
Tatra said that Jordan has imported 50 chassis on which local company KADDB (King Abdullah Design and Development Burea) builds its own military vehicle. This is a second batch after an initial 80 were exported, Rusek said.
Tatra makes heavy-duty, all-wheel-drive, off-road trucks and chassis-cabs. Tatra’s products range from 5-ton payload 4x4s up to 39-ton payload 12x12s. Tatra also manufactures a line of air-cooled diesel engines, transmissions and portal axles. The company`s integrated line of commercial and military products are distributed globally through Tatra dealers and other affiliated companies.
Tatra produced 123 trucks in the first two months of 2016, according to statistics from the Automotive Industry Association.
