EADS sets up Cyber Security Competence Centre


European defence giant EADS has established a Cyber Security Customer Solution Centre (CSCSC) to meet a growing need for new solutions and products to face cyber threats.

A strong expert base will be set up in France, Germany and the UK to meet the needs of operators of critical IT infrastructure such governments, global companies, critical infrastructure operators and to provide all the expertise and solutions required to detect and respond to cyber threats, the company says in a media release.

The CSCSC is to be headed by Denis Gardin. The company says he will report to both Hervé Guillou, CE of EADS Defence and Communications Systems (DCS) and Jean Botti, Chief Technical Officer (CTO) of EADS.

Bryan Lillie will head CSC UK, Uwe Giese CSC Germany and Patrick Radja CSC France.

“These two reporting lines are based on the competencies of both organisations. DCS has a long track record in providing EADS defence customers in France, Germany, the UK and the US with the most sensitive secured IT solutions embedded in large security and defence systems deployed around the world,” the statement adds.

“These include secured internet access, gateways, secure IT infrastructures, cryptography, and various other solutions. EADS Innovation Works, EADS’ central research institution, has been continuously performing groundbreaking research over the last few years to assess the vulnerability of IT systems and hardware, and has made a name for itself worldwide in this domain.”
