AST announce that they have been appointed as an Iridium Approved Service Centre. This accreditation allows AST’s in-house engineers, based at the Norfolk offices within the UK, to carry out certified out-of-warranty repairs to 9555 and 9505A handsets.
Accreditation means AST hold a supply of Iridium parts and can carry out:
• Test and Inspection – carry out inspection of handsets, including re-flashing with current firmware version.
• Level One Maintenance – repairs which do not involve opening the handset. For example replacement of antenna, battery or battery cover.
• Level Two Maintenance – repairs which include replacement of major components such as LED display, antenna swivel socket, antenna sensor, face plate with speaker, internal clock battery and rear chassis.
The immediate advantage is quicker turnaround times for repairs. Quotes will be provided before any work is undertaken.
