Mrs Z B N Balindlela (COPE) to ask the Minister of Home Affairs:
(1) Whether her Department has a strategy in place to ensure that officials deliver honest, caring and efficient service, if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details;

(2) whether her Department has any further plans in place to ensure ongoing investment in training, transformation and infrastructure; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details?

(1)Yes. The Department of Home Affairs applies the following measures to govern the conduct of officials in carrying out the mandate:

The newly established Municipal/ Home Affairs Stakeholder

Forums do undertake to do oversight work in the Home Affairs
offices, in their locality.

Strict enforcement of the Human Resource Strategy, Labour Relations Strategy, and Performance Management and Development System.

Strict enforcement of the Disciplinary Code and Procedures, where employees have contravened the Code of Conduct.

Call Centre established for Complaints and Compliments, through which submissions for recognition of deserving employees can be received, as well as, allow for whistle blowing.
