Department of Defence head of communications, Siphiwe Dlamini, responded to a defenceWeb piece published on Tuesday, July 10.
His statement reads: “The article ‘South African Air Force Chief apparently suspended – no comment from South African National Defence Force’ published on Defence Web by Kim Helfrich on 10 July 2018 has reference.
“It is mind-boggling that the poorly researched and speculative article, which is factually incorrect, seeks to set agenda on a hearsay (Sic). The article quoted faceless sources who are not even members of the SANDF neither do they speak on behalf of the SANDF. This is deemed poor journalism and rumour-mongering.
“The Chief of the South African Air Force, Lieutenant General Fabian Zimpande Msimang is not on suspension. The SANDF has no knowledge of the investigations alleged in the article.”
