Two British soldiers have been killed by explosions in southern Afghanistan, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said.
A soldier from the 2nd Royal Tank Regiment who was being treated in hospital in Britain died of his wounds. He had been seriously injured while travelling in an armoured vehicle on a patrol in northwest Helmand Province last week, the MoD said.
The second soldier, from the 2nd Battalion The Rifles, was killed yesterday while on foot patrol in central Helmand Province, Reuters reports.
They are the 215th and 216th British military fatalities since the Afghan conflict began in 2001. Next of kin have been informed.
