On 19 November, Russian Deputy Minister of Defence Alexander Fomin met with the Minister of Defence of Guinea Mohamed Diane in Moscow.
According to the Russian Ministery of Defence, the two sides discussed bilateral cooperation in the military and technical sphere and expressed interest in further strengthening of relations between thearmed forces of the two countries.
“During the talks, the Guinean leader expressed sincere gratitude to the Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation, General of the Army Sergei Shoigu, for his assistance in the fight against Ebola, as well as for his contribution to the development of Russian-Guinean military cooperation,” the Russian MoD stated.
“Colonel General Alexander Fomin and Mohamed Diane discussed issues of military education, the fight against terrorism, and the participation of Guinean representatives in international events held under the auspices of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation, and agreed to increase bilateral cooperation.”
Fomin and Diane have met on a number of previous occasions, including on the sidelines of the Russia-Africa summit in October last year.
