Angola will later this month host the African Capacity for Immediate Response to Crises (ACIRC) command post exercise Utulivu Africa II.
AngolaPress quoted General Paulo Sousa Alves dos Santos, from the General Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), as saying this week that Utulivu Africa II will take place between 22 and 26 August.
The armed forces of eight of 14 ACIRC member countries will take part in the exercise, under the theme of African solutions for African problems.
In November last year South Africa hosted Exercise Amani Africa II, the first ever field exercise undertaken by the African Union Commission at continental level. It was designed to address gaps identified during the Amani Africa Command Post-Exercise, conducted in October 2010 in Addis Ababa. Amani Africa II tested the rapid deployment capability of the African Standby Force (ASF) and interim ACIRC.
