The South African Aerospace, Maritime and Defence Export Council (SAAMDEC) has been invited to take part in India’s International Police Expo and India Homeland Security Expo next year.

Nexgen Exhibitions, the event organisers, invited SAAMDEC to what Nexgen describes as India’s only longest running exhibition on army, police and other forces covering all defence and security segments like defence, homeland security, forensic, law enforcement, armoured and special purpose vehicles, surveillance, protection, communications, fire, disaster and rescue management, force wellness and fitness, training, investigation technology, traffic and logistics, modern equipment, and new technologies needed by police, military, and allied forces for the safety and protection of society.

The event will take place on 14 and 15 May 2020 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, India.

The organisers said the last edition was well attended by all the major officials from the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Communication and IT and Ministry of Defence. More than 4 000 delegates from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Police, Central Armed Police forces, Special Forces, Security organizations and industry stakeholders attended the event.

“Since it is the only exhibition for the police, central armed forces and homeland security, respective stakeholders attended in a larger number with forces representatives and also because of internal and external threats to the nation,” the organisers said.

The International Police Expo and India Homeland Security Expo took place in July this year with participation from India, the United States, United Kingdom, Israel, South Korea, Germany and China, amongst others.

The event showcased technologies such as protective gear, aerostats, drones, thermal cameras, explosive/drug detectors, small arms, less lethal ammunition, body cameras etc.

During the 2019 event, the fifth annual Police Technology Conference was held, covering topics such as internal security, forensics, drones and facial recognition.

As part of its mandate to promote the South African defence industry, SAAMDEC and the Aerospace, Maritime and Defence Industries Association (AMD) regularly attend foreign trade shows and exhibitions, in countries such as Uruguay, Argentina, India, Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Algeria, Botswana, Zambia, Namibia, Nigeria, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Angola, Russia, China and Mozambique.
