The South African defence industry will be out in force at several big international exhibitions later this year, including the first edition of Edex in Egypt.

State defence materiel acquisition agency Armscor is coordinating the SA defence industry’s participation at Interpolitex in Russia, Indo Defence in Indonesia and Edex in Russia.

The 22nd International Homeland Security Exhibition “Interpolitex 2018” will be held in Moscow from 23 to 26 October 2018. The Exhibition is organized by the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, Russian Federal Security Service and National Guard. It is the largest homeland security exhibition in Russia.

In 2017, Interpolitex attracted 470 domestic and foreign companies and organizations from 14 countries. More than 20 000 people from 62 countries attended, and witnessed live demonstrations, amongst other things.

The Indo Defence 2018 Expo & Forum will be held in Jakarta, Indonesia from 7 to 10 November 2018. Hosted by the Ministry of Defence, the previous edition in 2016 saw 828 companies from 44 countries showcase their technology, systems and services. A total of 22 500 visitors attended the exhibition. There was an increase in the attendance of Asian exhibitors, as well as a huge expansion in cyber, unmanned global systems and robotics.

The first edition of the Egypt Defence Expo (Edex) is due to take place on 3-5 December 2018, and will include a show floor technical conference that is open to all show visitors. Set against the backdrop of Egypt’s first tri-service exhibition, the conference will explore the most important themes for both serving military as well as the suppliers servicing the sector.

The inaugural Edex is fully supported by the Egyptian Armed Forces and presents a brand new opportunity for exhibitors to showcase the latest military and security technology, equipment and systems across land, sea and air.

The South African defence industry will of course be out in full force during Africa Aerospace and Defence 2018, to be held between 18 and 23 September at Air Force Base Waterkloof. This is the largest defence exhibition in Africa.
