Paramount to collaborate with Turkish defence company

South African defence and security company Paramount Group has signed a collaboration agreement with Aselsan, a Turkish company that produces tactical military radios and defence electronic systems for the Turkish Armed Forces.

The agreement was signed on Tuesday at the African Aerospace & Defence exhibition being held at AFB Waterkloof.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Ivor Ichikowitz, Executive Chairman of Paramount Group, believed that there was not much wanting in the combined capabilities of the South African and Turkish defence industries.
“I believe there should be great collaboration with Turkey in the aerospace industry,” Ichikowitz said.

Hasan Canpolat, President of Aselsan, responded that “Aselsan sees South Africa as an important market and sees Paramount as a strategic partner.”

The agreement provides for future collaboration and cooperation between the two companies.

Aselsan is one of the oldest and largest defence company in Turkey, principally involved in tactical radio systems, electronic warfare and avionic modernisation.
