In addition to showing selected products, the Paramount Group is using the 10th Special Operations Forces Exhibition (SOFEX) currently underway in Jordan to announce “strategic initiatives and tangible deals”.
The four day event started on Monday at the King Abdullah I air base in Amman with a conference on issues pertinent to current counter terrorism and homeland security issues.
Paramount, South Africa’s largest privately owned defence industry conglomerate, has taken a number of its wheeled armoured vehicles, including the Mbombe, Marauder and Matador to the Middle Eastern country for the four day event.
All these vehicles, as well as others in the Paramount stable, have been designed to meet current and future threats in, among others, urban warfare, counter insurgency, public order, peacekeeping and border patrol.
On the aerospace side, Paramount will be actively marketing the AHRLAC (Advanced High Performance Reconnaissance Light Aircraft), designed in South Africa by Aerosud and now being developed in partnership with Ivor Ichikowitz’ Paramount Group.
Paramount is also using the Jordan exhibition to display its Mirage F1 capability. This is a capability the group has built up following its acquisition of the former SA Air Force (SAAF) F1 fleet along with spares, simulators and training material.
SOFEX takes place on a site that has more than 75 000 square metres of indoor and outdoor exhibition space allowing exhibitors from 38 countries to display equipment and solutions tailor-made for Special Forces.
At the time of publication no feedback had been received from Jordan on the initiatives and deals to be announced.
