Denel has appointed a new Group Chief Operations Officer, with Khohlong William Hlakoane to take up the position from 1 July.
In its latest Stakeholder Bulletin, Denel said “in our drive towards transforming Denel into a self-sustaining State Owned Company, the appointments are critical in stabilising the business and focusing our energies in realising our strategic objectives. These appointments will help build and strengthen a sound internal control environment to help Denel restore its position as a strategic national asset and industry leader to customers, suppliers, employees, competitors, financial institutions and other key stakeholders.
“Mr Hlakoane brings with him a wealth of experience in the manufacturing sector, backed by a solid career track record that will add immense value to Denel. He is a systematic thinker with deep understanding of the Engineering and Systems Engineering discipline and good business insights.
“An experienced executive in Operations Management, he has in-depth technical abilities as well as project management and business development expertise. Mr Hlakoane is a Mechanical Engineer with an MBA from the Milpark Business School,” Denel said.

Hlakoane takes over from Thamsanqa Mbele, who previously served as Chairman and Director of Pamodzi Hotels Plc until February 2015.
