The Department of Defence (DoD) in conjunction with the Department of Trade and Industry will tomorrow host an Industry Day at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research conference centre in Pretoria.
“The aim of the DoD Industry Day is to ensure that there is coordination and cooperation between government, the South African Defence Industry (SADI) and other relevant stakeholders with the aim of developing a competitive world class South African defence industry,” the DoD says in a statement.
“This event will help SADI to understand governments’ intent on defence matters and thus to position themselves for the development and enhancement of defence products that are relevant to the SA Defence and further position itself as Africa’s global player in the defence environment.” The event’s theme is “Political Support for Security, Economic Gains and Creation of Employment”.
The National Defence Force Service Commission (NDFSC) and corps of military attachés “will grace the event” the DoD adds. Secretary for Defence Mpumi Mpofu will deliver a keynote address at 8.48 and Deputy Minister of Defence and Military Veterans Thabang Makwetla will close at 4.30pm.
