Chad has ordered 52 Kerax 6×6 trucks from French vehicle manufacturer Renault, for delivery later this year.
French land systems trade association GICAT says Chad has ordered 20 flatbeds, 20 fuel tankers, 10 horses for tank trailers and two recovery variants.
The vehicles will be manufactured at Renault`s Bourg-en-Bresse facility.
Kerax is described as a family of trucks designed for heavy transport missions both on- and off-road. The range is said to feature a high component commonality and together with easier maintenance and a global support network offers the user lower costs.
The 6×6 off-road variant is powered by a DXi11 diesel engine rated at 450hp and has an operating range of up to 900km.
A company release says it can take a payload of up to 16mt “on all roads and tracks”, and can transport and handle containers and pallet rack systems. “This new contract is important for Renault Trucks Defense in this troubled area of Africa,” the release adds.
