The man who ensured Armscor consistently received unqualified audits from the Auditor General during his tenure as acting chief executive has gone back to his original position as general manager: acquisition.
Welcoming new chief executive Kevin Wakeford, Armscor board chairman Johannes Mudimu said the former SA Chamber of Business chief executive brought “a wealth of experience to the organisation.
“We are confident with his leadership and experience gained in both the public and private sectors he will take Armscor to greater heights,” the immediate past chief of the SA Navy said.
Sipho Mkwanazi, who filled the chief executive position for close on six years following the departure of Sipho Thomo, was given a “heartfelt vote of appreciation” by Mudimu for time in the driver’s seat of the State’s defence and security acquisition agency.
Mudimu also thanked Dawie Griessel, who deputised for Mkwanazi, for “diligently and meticulously carrying out his duties.
Wakeford will move into the chief executive’s office in the Armscor building on May 1, an Armscor statement said.
