Togo defeated Mauritania in the third round of an election to the 15-nation UN Security Council for 2012 and 2013.

The small West African state secured 131 votes in the 193-nation U.N. General Assembly, more than double Mauritania’s 61 votes. The other countries that won council seats during Friday’s election are Pakistan, Morocco and Guatemala.

There will be a fourth round of voting for one more seat in Eastern Europe between Azerbaijan and Slovenia. Hungary was also a candidate but failed to secure sufficient votes to remain in the race, Reuters reports.
