Mozambique to receive less aid in 2013

Mozambique will receive $606 million in aid next year, with the global economic slowdown causing the amount to be cut by just over 10 percent from what has been set aside for this year, said the donors.

Major donors including Germany, the World Bank and Britain said they have set aside $344 million for budget support while development programmes such as health and education will receive $262 million.

Mozambique will receive $688 million in aid this year, with $378 million set aside for budget support, Reuters reports.

Growth in the southern-African country is expected to pick up to 7.5 percent from 7.1 percent in 2011
