Ministerial clusters reconfigured

The Presidency has announce a reshuffle of ministerial clusters as part of a process of improving coordination within government and enhancing the delivery of services.

Noteworthy is that defence minister Lindiwe Sisulu will head the international cooperation, trade and security cluster.

President Jacob Zuma’s office says clusters were established to foster an integrated approach to governance that is aimed at improving government planning, decision making and service delivery.

“The main objective is to ensure proper coordination of all government programmes at national and provincial levels,” it says in a statement.

The main functions of cluster are to ensure alignment of government wide priorities; facilitate and monitor the implementation of priority programmes; and provide a consultative platform on cross-cutting priorities and matters being taken to Cabinet.

The Prsidency adds the Forum of South African Directors-General (FOSAD)’s clusters are being reconfigured to mirror the ministerial clusters. “The FOSAD clusters, which are attended by directors-general, provide technical support to the ministerial clusters,” the statement says.
