Croatia court jails ex defence minister for graft

A Croatian court sentenced jailed former Defence Minister Berislav Roncevic for four years in prison after he was found guilty of graft, in the latest sign of the government’s commitment to combat corruption in line with EU requirements, reports Reuters.

Roncevic was cancelled a tender to buy army trucks in 2004 and struck a deal directly with suppliers whose price was 10 million kuna (US$2.06 million) higher than that of the tender winners, state news agency Hina reported.
