Turkey signs deal with Pakistan on sale of 30 attack helicopters

Turkey and Pakistan have signed an agreement on the sale of 30 Turkish T129 attack helicopters in what will be the biggest export deal of the Turkish defence industry, the country’s defence industry directorate said on Friday.

It said the deal encompasses the provision of logistics, spare parts, training and ammunition for the helicopters.

Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) said the T129 has been tested by the Pakistan Army in Turkey and Pakistani environmental and geographical conditions. “Thanks to its outstanding features and mission capabilities, T129 ATAK has successfully passed all required tests in order to meet of the Pakistan Army needs,” TAI said.

Pakistan is also receiving 12 Bell AH-1Z Viper attack helicopters from the United States.
