Ethiopian Airlines took delivery of its eight Boeing 787 Dreamliner on June 26, of ten on order, and will use the aircraft to strengthen the route between London and Addis Ababa.
Ethiopian was the first airline in the world outside Japan to receive the Boeing 787, in August 2012, and will receive its two remaining 787s later this year. Currently, Ethiopian is the largest operator of the Boeing 787 in Africa, serving routes to Africa, Brazil, Europe, the U.S., Canada and China with the aircraft.
“The 787 is truly without peers in its category both in passenger comfort and operational excellence. As technology leaders in the continent, we will continue to introduce the latest technology aircraft with the aim of meeting the high expectations of our valued customers,” said Tewolde Gebremariam, CEO of Ethiopian Airlines Group.
Ethiopian serves 82 international destinations across five continents using 68 aircraft including Boeing 777s, Boeing 787s, Boeing 737-800s and Bombardier Q400s.
