Sudan army chopper crashes in Darfur

A Sudanese army helicopter crashed in the South Darfur state capital of Nyala without causing any casualties, army spokesperson  Sawarmi Khaled Saad said.

“Maintenance of the aircraft had just been completed. The pilot was carrying out a test,” Saad said yesterday.
“He had taken off but a technical problem arose and the aircraft crashed onto the workshop. The helicopter was a write-off but nobody died.”

It was the second accident involving military helicopters in Darfur in the past few months. In March, two helicopters came down north of Nyala again without causing casualties.
