French defence min in drone talks with Dassault

The French Defence Ministry said it was in talks with Dassault Aviation on a possible order for a new drone system that would enter into service in 2014.

The Dassault drones would replace ones used by the French armed forces and act as a stopgap pending the completion of a new generation of medium-altitude, long-endurance (MALE) drones France and Britain are developing, Reuters reports.

Those aircraft are expected to enter into service in 2020, the Defence Ministry said.
