EADS unit to set up plant in Romania: paper

An EADS unit is planning to set up a factory in Romania to take advantage of low-cost production in Eastern Europe, the Financial Times Deutschland reported yesterday.
EADS unit Premium Aerotec, which was formed this year and which bundles the German Airbus factories at Varel, Nordenham and Augsburg, plans to produce metal and milled parts for Airbus in Romania, the FTD said, citing an internal EADS newsletter.
The unit’s French counterpart, Aerolia, is following a similar strategy by setting up a production site in Tunisia, the FTD said.
EADS was not immediately available for comment.
