Contractors are expected to start on the bulk earthworks of the Landside Phase 1 development at the Centurion Aerospace Village (CAV) by early September.
Engineering News this morning reports that consulting engineers PD Naidoo and Associates (PDNA) and quantity surveying consultancy Crane Quantity Surveyors have invited joint venture companies to tender for the 49 000 m2 bulk earthworks project.
The CAV is being championed by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and was launched in August last year to give small companies the opportunity to be in close proximity to the larger local suppliers, such as Denel and Aerosud, in order to create an aerostructure supply and manufacturing chain.
The CAV forms part of the DTI`s Aerospace Industry Support Initiative that aims to reposition the country`s aerospace sector as a future growth industry.
