The first Paramount Group Advanced High-performance Reconnaissance Light Aircraft (AHRLAC) prototype has participated in its inaugural trade exhibition.
The Experimental Demonstrator (XDM) prototype, which first flew on 26 July, participated in the opening ceremony of the African Aerospace and Defence (AAD) exhibition on 17 September at AFB Waterkloof. Having overflown the podium, the aircraft landed and is on static display throughout the exhibition and air show.
The development team are still in the process of expanding the aircraft’s flight envelope, averaging four flights a week. Despite the aircraft being on static display at AAD, the team is not idle. Two new Martin-Baker M k17 ultra-lightweight ejection seats were delivered on 19 September at the show and these will be integrated into the aircraft soon.
The development team, including Programme Manager and designer Paul Potgieter (Jnr), ground and test aircrew will be on hand to show off their pride and joy and to answer any questions.
The general public will have another opportunity at seeing the AHRLAC fly when it departs the AAD air show on Sunday morning, September 21, accompanied by a Caravan.
