Libya says working on border security with Tunisia

China is built on lies and its officials are hypocrites, the Dalai Lama said Saturday, speaking via videophone after visa problems prevented him from joining Archbishop Desmond Tutu's birthday celebrations in South Africa. "Some Chinese officials describe me as a demon," the Tibetan spiritual leader said to loud applause as he put his index fingers either side of his head to mimic devil's horns.
   

EU asks Israel, Palestinians to meet soon

The European Union said on Sunday it plans to invite Israeli and Palestinian representatives to meet "in the coming days" to discuss resuming peace negotiations. But it was not immediately clear whether such an invitation could resolve a year-long impasse in diplomacy, as spokesmen for both Israel and the Palestinians responded by restating long-held positions already blamed for perpetuating the stalemate.
