China begins construction of Mauritanian landing ship

China’s Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group has begun construction of a 1 750 tonne landing ship for Mauritania after the vessel was ordered in March last year.

Mauritania Airlines orders single Boeing 737 MAX 8

Boeing and Mauritania Airlines have announced an order for one 737 MAX 8 airliner at the 2017 Paris Air Show. The order, valued at $112.4 million at list prices, was previously attributed to an unidentified customer on the Boeing Orders & Deliveries website.

Mauritania breaks diplomatic ties with Qatar

West African country Mauritania, a member of the Arab League, severed ties with Qatar over allegations it "supports terrorists", the state news agency reported, and OPEC member Gabon also condemned the small Gulf Arab state.

Mauritania and Saudi Arabia have signed a defence co-operation agreement that covers military training, the exchange of secure information, logistic support, country visits and military health care services.

An appeals court in Mauritania overturned the convictions of three anti-slavery activists and reduced the sentences of 10 others for their alleged role in a riot in June, Amnesty International said.
