AU urges Mauritania to crack down on slavery

The African Union urged Mauritania to make a greater effort to eliminate slavery after the country handed out lenient sentences to a family of slave owners in a landmark conviction.

Boeing and Mauritania Airlines have announced an order for one 737 MAX 8 airliner at the 2017 Paris Air Show. The order, valued at $112.4 million at list prices, was previously attributed to an unidentified customer on the Boeing Orders & Deliveries website.

Mauritania breaks diplomatic ties with Qatar

West African country Mauritania, a member of the Arab League, severed ties with Qatar over allegations it "supports terrorists", the state news agency reported, and OPEC member Gabon also condemned the small Gulf Arab state.
