Fourteen people have been killed in fighting within the ranks of south Sudan's army, an official said.
Six Senegalese soldiers were killed in an ambush near the country's border with Guinea-Bissau. Senegalese rebels in the area have been stepping up their attacks.
US forces in Afghanistan suffered their worst losses in more than a year when fighters stormed remote outposts near the Pakistan border, cutting off contact with police, authorities said yesterday.
