Fact file: SANDF projects: past, present & future

Known South African National Defence force (SANDF) projects, past, present and future, presented alphabetically per Service/Division. The information below was compiled from Department of Defence Annual Reports and from written answers to questions asked in Parliament.

This may correspond in some respects to Strategic Capital Acquisition Master Plan (SCAMP), the 30-year rolling SANDF acquisition programme schedule. “SCAMP is a strategic management tool which the DoD employs to assess and organise its capital acquisition requirements… SCAMP assists in prioritising … needs.”

35 Armscor Annual Report 2007

36The SA Army Infantry Formation, which controls the Army Territorial Reserve, commences preparations to close down those units. (Project MOUNTING) Stage 2: Once the preparation has been completed, these units are handed over to Project TSAKANI where a pre-audit is done. The unit is then handed over to the Inspector General at DOD level, where a request to DIMS to de-activate the Unit-code is made. A unit is then considered closed. This whole process can take in excess of a year.”
